This is the reason Mercedes failed to win the Australian GP 2019 - Mercedes AMG Petronas driver, Lewis Hamilton, failed to be the fastest in the Formula One (F1) first series of the Australian GP 2019. Hamilton had to settle for second place because he lost 21 seconds to his teammate , Valtteri Bottas.

The result was quite surprising because Hamilton was the fastest driver in qualifying so he started the race from the leading position. However, Hamilton had an explanation about Mercedes failing to win the Australian GP.

According to Hamilton, the car he was driving had problems in the back in the middle of the race. The English pass driver suspected that this made his speed decrease so he failed to catch up with Bottas. If Hamilton's car doesn't have a problem, maybe he will be the fastest at the 2019 Australian Grand Prix.

"Something doesn't feel right. But you can't think about it, you just have to try and work with what you have. "I was quite easy to follow Valtteri (Bottas) until then, and then after that I felt really struggling with the back," Hamilton said, as quoted from Gptoday, Wednesday (03/20/2019).

"I'm not sure where the problem came from because I didn't widen or something. Actually this is quite encouraging for me (about damage). We work very hard to get the right balance and I feel like I have a good pace this weekend, "continued the Briton pass driver.

"We do normal work in terms of working hard and getting good arrangements. And then suddenly the car is completely different compared to the lap formation and what we have in the long run. So, it's nice to see there are reasons for unexpected things. We will only move forward and leave from there, "he concluded.
